Prof. Dr. Karl Eckstein

Professor Eckstein is a Doctor of Law, former long-term Honorary Consul of the Russian Federation in Switzerland and a board member and co-founder of Terra Quantum AG. Born in Germany, he received his Doctorate and legal certification in Switzerland and quickly advanced in his career to become the head of the Moscow office of Switzerland’s largest industrial consortium where he represented the interests of such enterprises as Nestle, Sulzer, SIG, Bührle Oerlikon, Andre Lausanne and Bühler Uzwil.

In 1986 he founded his own consulting company “Eckstein & Partner” which today has offices in Switzerland, Russia, Germany and France and is a leading provider of interim management, accounting and legal services to facilitate business between the west and the post-Soviet states.

Since 1995, he has worked as a Professor of Constitutional and Administrative Law at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO-University), and he has authored and co-authored numerous published works.

His contributions to the business, economic and cultural relations between Russia and Switzerland were officially acknowledged in 2007 when he was appointed the first Honorary Consul of the Russian Federation in Switzerland at a ceremony attended by the former Russian ambassador, the mayor of Zurich, and representatives of the local authorities, the business community, politicians and cultural figures.
